How much will this project cost?

This project, funded in part by a $20 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s BUILD program, will cost a total of $224.4 million.

Why will there be two bridges instead of one?

This stretch of I-64 serves the growing communities of Kanawha and Putnam Counties and carries about 70,000 vehicles per day. The continuously increasing traffic volume has resulted in congestion, sudden stops, and collisions. Building an additional bridge will alleviate the increased traffic in the area.
